Does Medicare provide rebates for mental health services?

To be eligible to receive psychology services under Medicare you must be referred by your general practitioner (GP) and in some instances by another medical specialist with a mental health care plan.

A Medicare rebate of $92.90 per session is available for seeing a registered psychologist with a mental health care plan.

How do I get access to a mental health treatment plan?

Once you and your doctor have agreed on your goals and the support you need to achieve them, your doctor will write out a mental health treatment plan. They will then communicate with other members of your health care team.

Does a private health fund cover psychology services?

Rebates are available for clients with a Medicare Mental Health Care Plan, or through a client’s private health fund.

What payment methods do you accept?

Mighty Minds Psychology payment methods are credit card, debit card.

What should I bring on my first appointment?

Referral letter from GP/Paediatrician/psychiatrist, the mental health treatment plan (if you have one) and your Medicare card.
